Jean-Michel Dubé / A showcase of romanticism : from Schubert to André Mathieu

A rising star...

Jean-Michel Dubé, First Prize winner of the Canadian Music Competition Stepping Stone 2017, winner of the German Piano Open, recognized for his enthusiasm and musicality, will perform an annotated concert of the works of André Mathieu and the romantic composers who influenced him. Like that of the romantics, André Mathieu's music expresses emotions, impressions and perceptions. An unforgettable and moving evening awaits us with this pianist whose career is booming!

His innate musical flair and technique have earned Jean-Michel Dubé much praise both in Canada and elsewhere. Winner of the Pierre Mantha prize at the 2016 Prix d'Europe, he also received the John Newmark prize, awarded to one of the winners whose musical and esthetic qualities drew the attention of the jury.

He has also been identified as a rising star of Quebec's and Canada's next generation. In 2018, Jean-Michel was acclaimed by ICI Musique as one of the six young Quebec classical musicians to watch, and he was also among the 2017 winners of CBC Music's 30 hot classical musicians under 30 in Canada
