Duo Heneker / The Great Bs

Two young virtuosos with uncanny talent

The Heneker Duet will whisk you away on an extraordinary musical journey, illustrating the sonata's evolution across four periods, through four composers and four pieces that are among the richest and most brilliant ever composed. You will visit the baroque with Bach, the classical with Beethoven, the romantic with Brahms and the modern with Bartók

The sonata was in its infancy during Bach's time, and developed considerably among composers in the periods that followed. A brief explanation of this evolution will be provided before each work to underline the its period's particular traits. This contextualizing will enable the audience to forge a bond with the music before hearing it.

The musicians will also evoke the history and physical differences of their instruments and show the evolution of standard tuning from "415" to "442." In short, it will be a total experience: beautiful music, an educational component, a historical component and two very talented performers to accompany the audience for the entire journey.

Classical music plays an essential cultural role.  One of the goals of this concert is to make one of its most widely used forms accessible, and another is to help people appreciate the beauty of the sonatas created by four geniuses.
