Skye Consort/Emma Björling / In concert

A magical evening!

Skye Consort & Emma Björling marry ancient musical traditions with contemporary interpretations of Celtic, Swedish, Norwegian and Québécois folk music, played on period instruments. The joyous music takes on a festive air, the love songs are romantic, and the drinking songs intoxicating.  The group is made up of excellent musicians masterfully handling instruments from various folkloric traditions: Celtic (cittern), Scandinavian (nyckelharpa) and even Indian (shruti box).

Founded in 1999, the Skye Consort has toured mainly in Eastern Canada and the United States and participates in many chamber music festivals.  From the start, the goal of the group has been to unite music coming from many traditions across the world under an analog artistic esthetic. They create their own arrangements of vocal and instrumental works that are rarely heard. They rekindle the spark to bring this ancient music back to life.

Artists : Emma Björling, vocals and shruti box; Seán Dagher, cittern; Amanda Keesmaat, cello; Alex Kehler, violin and nyckelharpa.
