Zhan Hong Xiao

An exceptional young virtuoso

Value doesn't count the years!

He is only 20  but already his agility at the piano and his personal touch have carved him out a prime place in the court of the greats. Passion, rigour and perseverance assured the rapid rise of this pianist and singer who became interested in music when he was seven. At the dawn of adulthood, he is already entering adult spheres: he has won numerous prizes and was notably one of the seven pianists chosen in his category in the OSM 2015 national competition. Winner of ICI Radio-Canada's 2017 Virtuose television competition, he caught the notice of audiences enthusiastic about the precision of his interpretations.

Born in China in 1999, he arrived in Montreal when he was two and discovered music in his elementary school, Fleur-des-Neiges. He rapidly showed exceptional talent at the piano and devotes some of his time to choral singing. Alongside his studies at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he has been in Richard Raymond's class since 2014, he relies on the support of his mentors, Gilbert Patenaude and Philippe Ostiguy.

Zhan Hong Xiao was one of the performers in the Brillant Tchaïkovsky concert with the Orchestre Métropolitain, presented in the Maison symphonique on February 1, 2019.
